“Hyung.”
“Hyung.”
“Hyung!” he said while slapping his hyung’s back.
“Huh? What?” ask Jungsoo. A bit surprised with his brother presence.
‘When did he come in?’ he thought.
“Hyung, are you daydreaming again?”
“Why are you here?" Ignoring his dongsaeng’s question, he ask him back.
“Mom
ask me to call you. Dinner will be ready in five minutes. Hyung, don’t
try to ignore my question. Thinking of her again? Haish…you really need
to stop dreaming and face her for real, hyung.”
“If only it is that easy, Kyuhyun-ah.”
“It
is not that hard either, hyung. Honestly, what is so hard about it? If I
were you, I’ll just go to her and tell her that I like her right there
and then. I mean, hyung, it has been nearly two years since you first
met her and you are not improving at all. Are you going to only look at
her from afar for the rest of your life?”
“I’ll do something about it. No need for you to be this worry, Kyuhyun-ah.”
“Haha…hyung,
I thought you will say the same answer again. ‘If it is our fate, we
will be together no matter what’. What an answer. I almost thrown up the
first time I hear you said that, you know? I’m glad you are changing
your answer. Having her near you really change you, huh?” Jungsoo laugh
at his words.
“But,
you know what hyung…I really am curious on what’s the reason you like
her. Both of you never talk to each other before, and I know for sure
that beauty is not the reason. She’s just an average looking girl. You
got so many pretty girls waiting for you. Just look at the college for
example. Thank god no one knows I’m your brother or if not, I’ll be
dead.”
Again, Jungsoo just give his little brother a smile.
“That’s
not how the heart work, Kyu. When your heart says you like her, then
there is no need for any reasoning anymore. You just like her. You’ll
know what I mean when you find someone you really like. Now, let’s
forget about that. Mom must be waiting for us downstairs. Let’s go."

Jungsoo’s POV
Kim
Soo Il. I can still remember the first time I met her not so long ago. A
year and seven months ago. It’s wasn’t that long but Kyuhyun said that I
am really not good in counting. According to him, it is long enough
that even a palm-sized baby can grow up and learn how to walk already.
That’s my little brother for you.
When
I first met her, Kyuhyun was with me. That day, we were going out
together to look out for mom and dad anniversary present. We finally
decided on a pair of couple watch since mom and dad really love couple
things, regardless of their age. They even have pairs of couple shirts.
We were going to turn to our right when someone suddenly bumped into
Kyuhyun and fell on the floor. She quickly stands up, fix her shirt and
bows while saying sorry without even looking at us. I turned back to
look at her and saw her knocking her head with her hand. So cute. That
is all what I think at the moment. At the time, I never thought that I
will meet her again and even fall for her, hard.
The
exact same day, two hours later, Kyuhyun and I went our separate way.
He got a meeting with a friend and I, feeling so bored, went to Reading
Hut – a café-style bookstore in our area. We can buy, rent or even just
read books in their café. Since there’s no one at home, I have decided
to stay there for a while. After some scanning through the shelves, I
took a book and looked for an empty seat. Halfway of my reading, I
suddenly heard a thud, coming from the table behind me. I turned around
to see what had happened and I saw a girl rubbing her forehead. Looks
like she just knocked her forehead on the table. That must be hurt, I
thought. I keep looking at her and only after few seconds later did I
realize that she’s actually the same girl that bumped into Kyuhyun
earlier.
Starting
from that day, whenever I went to Reading Hut, I can see her on the
same spot, reading a book with a glass of cold drink and her mp3 on the
table. She never cares on what happened around her and sink in her own
world.
That
last for nearly a year. Looking for her whenever I visit the café had
become a habit. But, suddenly one day, she wasn’t there. At first, I
thought maybe she was not feeling well or something, that prevent her
from coming. But then, days turned into weeks, and weeks become months. I
never saw her again ever since.
I
was so surprised to see her at the library few weeks ago. She was
looking for a book from the shelves when I first saw her and I thought I
was seeing things. I got enough luck that day when she came to my
counter out of the three counters. I was in the pantry with some other
staff when she came. Excusing myself, I quickly went to the counter.
When I reach the counter, acting formal, I call for her. The moment she
turned around, our eyes met. Her eyes are beautiful. We never face each
other directly before. I was pretty sure that she didn’t even recognize
me. I don’t even think that she knows my existence in her life. And I
was right. I am a stranger to her. Maybe that is why she felt offended
when I let out a smile after reading her name.
Kim
Soo Il. I finally got to know her name. That was why I actually smile.
But, how stupid I am to say that the reason was because her name is
unusual for a girl. She was mad. I can see that. I saw that often
actually. Often enough to recognize that expression. She easily got
annoyed whenever she got disturbed while reading. Even by a clanking
sound of shoes’ heels. There was once I heard her say that the café need
to put a ‘No Heels’ sign. Haha. She’s so funny.
Then,
later that day, I met her again at a bookstore. She doesn’t change at
all. Still mumbling by herself – in her own world, knocking her head
whenever she feels wrong, and most of all, she’s still the book lover
that I know.
My
attempted to get close with her was a failed attempt. I guess i gave
her a bad first impression. I am really good in saying wrong things at
the wrong times. You need to get a hold of yourself, Park Jungsoo.
